As the creek runs through Pacifica, it creates a swath of greenery that serves as an important game corridor and flyway for some of the Bay Area’s less common wildlife. Its great that these animals can feel comfortable in our backyards!
This White Tailed Kite (Elanus leucurus) was spotted near the mouth, flying above the estuary looking for lunch
And these were caught on a trail cam up near San Pedro Valley Park in the back of the Valley.
And although not technically in the watershed, these were found at Linda Mar Beach and depend upon clean and healthy water to survive. And I know, I shouldn’t have picked up the crab and left him alone.
Striped Shore Crab (Pachygrapsus crassipes)
Bat Star (Patiria miniata)
